When I think of a light hearted example of persistence, I think of kids. 

They get fixated on "a want" and they'll ask a parent - "NO"

Ask the other parent (lol) - "NO"

Rinse and repeat, beg and plead. Cry and try every angle, every avenue until one parent, maybe both, can see how badly the child wants the thing, it must really be important to them and the next moment....their persistence has paid off!
