Do Not Judge
(Luke 6:37ā42ā)
1Ā āJudge not, that you be not judged.Ā 2Ā For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.Ā 3Ā And why do you look at the speck in your brotherās eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?Ā 4Ā Or how can you say to your brother, āLet me remove the speck from your eyeā; and look, a plankĀ isĀ in your own eye?Ā 5Ā Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brotherās eye.
6Ā āDo not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
7Ā āAsk, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.Ā 8Ā For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.Ā 9Ā Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?Ā 10Ā Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?Ā 11Ā If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!Ā 12Ā Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13Ā Enter ye inĀ atĀ theĀ straitĀ gate:Ā forĀ wideĀ isĀ theĀ gate,Ā andĀ broadĀ isĀ theĀ way,Ā thatĀ leadethĀ toĀ destruction,Ā andĀ manyĀ there beĀ whichĀ go inĀ thereat:Ā 14Ā BecauseĀ straitĀ isĀ theĀ gate,Ā andĀ narrowĀ isĀ theĀ way,Ā whichĀ leadethĀ untoĀ life,Ā andĀ fewĀ there beĀ thatĀ findĀ it.
Matthew 7
: 5 - 14
The unidentified (generally believed to be Paul) writer of the Book of Hebrews here again contradicts what Christ Himself says in the Gospels. Both scriptures are in the Bible, so where does a Christian draw the line.
Here, we face another crossroads. Do you continue to just call the whole Bible "the Word of God" conflating the true Christian Gospel with all the other fantastic words devoted to God or do you consider it like cake.
The Bible is the "Word of God" like a vanilla cake is vanilla, or lemon cake is lemon. There's a few tablespoons, at most of lemon zest or vanilla bean/ extract the rest in a cake. The rest of the cake is something else doing other necessary things in the recipe.
Christ's Gospel is the leavening agent
Christ demonstrates humility even before the Crucifixion, teaching us by example with a pun, washing souls clean, literally & spiritually.
