Grant Edwards retired from the Australian Federal Police in 2019 at the rank of Commander after a 34-year distinguished career. His Policing career was diverse including postings to Los Angeles and Washington D.C as an AFP Liaison Officer, Timor-Leste as Mission Commander and advisor to the Secretary of State for Security in the Timorese Government and to Afghanistan as Mission Commander and Deputy Head of the International Police Coordination Board. He holds a Masters degree in leadership, policy and governance studies through Charles Sturt University, and a Bachelor of Arts at the Australian National University (ANU).
Grant is also an accomplished sportsman having represented his country across four different sports. However, he is best known for his feats of strength holding the title of Australia’s Strongest Man, and featuring in the Guinness Book of World Records for pulling a 201 tonne steam locomotive.
In 2019 Grant published his memoir titled “The Strongman” detailing both his life and his personal journey with mental health.
