The Pelvic Power Podcast

69. Lichen Sclerosus: The Questions Everyone Is Asking (Part 1)

Listen Later

Welcome back!

In this episode of The Pelvic Power Podcast, Jaclyn, the voice behind The Lost Labia Chronicles, is joining us for the first part of a two-part conversation all about living with lichen sclerosus.

Jaclyn is the Director of The Lost Labia Chronicles, a knowledge-sharing hub for evidence-based lichen sclerosus information and peer support. She is also a content creator, executive board member, and chief research and provider relations officer for Lichen Sclerosus Support Network, an LS not-for-profit. She is actively involved in lichen sclerosus research and is passionate about advocating for the community and helping those with LS thrive.

This episode is shaped entirely by questions from the community, and in this first part we dive into:

  • topical steroid treatment and the steroid ladder
  • why clobetasol isn’t the only option
  • how potency, frequency, and texture matter
  • navigating maintenance vs flares
  • moisturizer choices and why what works for you is what matters most
  • the difference between signs and symptoms
  • what “remission” actually means — and why pain can still exist even when skin looks healthy

If you live with lichen sclerosus, and you want to learn more about your condition and how to support yourself, this episode is for you!

Enjoy 🤍

Part 2 will continue this discussion and explore what happens when symptoms, pain, and lived experience don’t neatly match clinical definitions - and so much more.
