William “Junior” Pierce is America’s most forgotten serial killer. Convicted in the early 1970s of killing nine men and women in an eight-month long killing spree through Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, Pierce was sentenced to 880 years in prison.

 

We first met Pierce in episode #6, when we investigated the rape and murder of 13-year-old Peg Cuttino – a crime that Pierce was convicted of. What we learned, was that Pierce was a petty criminal who was tortured into confessing to a crime that he likely did not commit.
