In this episode, we will discuss how God triumphed over the false gods of the heathen world through Israel and the Exodus. He demonstrated in dramatic and powerful fashion that He was the true God. And yet, many who stood before Joshua as Israel prepared to enter the Promised Land still "thought it evil to serve the Lord." In spite of all they had seen and heard they were not convinced that God was worthy of their service. Joshua's appeal to them was "then choose you this day whom ye will serve." In other words, if not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, then whom?
In the final analysis, a life of devotion to God is a voluntary choice that is not determined by my knowledge or experiences. And as we choose who or what has our life's devotion, we should ask ourselves this question, "If not God, then what's the alternative?"
