While most of the apostle Paul's epistles were corrective letters written to churches that had backslidden, the Church at Colossae was remarkable. Though not started by Paul, Colossae, built on a proper foundation, functioned as intended. Hence, Paul's exhortation urged the Colossians to continue in a godly lifestyle.
