When Jesus is invited to a party, some awkward but wonderful things can happen. 

John and Jesus had the same message, lived two different kind of lives, and yet received criticism.  Jesus has something to say about it. 

Who is the GOAT according to Jesus? Hint, it's not John the baptist.

Questions are not bad. And our questions of God often come out of hard circumstances. John was no different. And Jesus helped John understand just who Jesus claimed to be, and how His life was to be seen. Once again, the there of Jesus' identity is on display. 

Luke turned to connect the life of Jesus with Elisha and Naaman, as told in Luke 4. And now Luke will turn to the prophet Elijah and the widow's son he prayed to see God raise from the dead. Now Jesus will parallel another moment when His life and ministry reaches out to the gentile world. A world that Luke came out of. 

A hinge point in the story of Luke, this moment speaks to the audience that Jesus will receive. While His hometown rejected Him because Jesus told them He would be ministering to men like Naaman in the life of Elisha, in Luke 7 we see Jesus ministering to a different foreign military leader. 

How do you build a house by the shore? If you don't get this one thing right, it will not matter what you build.
