As I am watching the sun set on my thirties and have the forties on the horizon, I have become increasingly aware of the way we as a society talk about "getting old." How often do we hear things such as "I must just be getting old" or "it's no fun getting old."

One of the things that I have absolutely loved about embracing a whole food, plant-based lifestyle is that it has changed all of that for me. I feel like overall my body is stronger and healthier than it was a decade ago.

I never want to paint the picture that things are perfect, but when I compare my health and energy levels of my pregnancy at 34 on what I felt was a relatively healthy yet standard American diet versus the one at 37 when I'd had a few years eating whole-food plant-based, the improvement was significant. I was able to exercise nearly my entire pregnancy and had less nausea.

I truly believe that our bodies can do so much to regenerate and heal when we flood them with the building blocks they need through an abundance of whole plant foods.

Well today on the podcast, I get to interview someone who is evidence that it is never too late to make a change and enjoy the benefits. At 75, Rick McKeon had a flood of health issues including high blood pressure, liver issues, bone marrow cancer and aches and pains that made it difficult to even walk. He made some significant changes and now at 77 he has  a new lease on life with his health issues mostly or completely resolved and is working hard to help others do the same.

Rick has some great insights on how to stay motivated and focused on your goal and how to keep going when you make a mistake.
