“Stranger than Stranger Things,” demonstrates and explains a psychological phenomenon called cryptomnesia, a situation when we mistakenly think we have an original concept but it is someone else’s and we fail to remember. An interview with Sydney musician, Melissa Kenny, presents her complex creative process and how she safeguards from cryptomnesia through a structured approach and exercising her memory. Since we are all susceptible to this strange behaviour, I encourage listeners to be curious rather than judgmental.
List of sounds:
• Voices:
Rob Penaflor (singing & speaking)
Jackson Wreford (speaking)
Melissa Kenny (interviewee)
Mine (hosting & singing)
• Music:
Ian Abbott (Intro, outro, intro to interview)
Melissa Kenny (Vocal Intro to Uptown Funk)
• Instrumental and sound effects from Macquarie University source and freesound.org
