In this week’s message from 1 Corinthians 2:6–16, we explore what it truly means to have “the mind of Christ.” Paul encourages the struggling church in Corinth to stop chasing worldly wisdom and instead lean into the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

Although Corinth looked like it had everything—wealth, beauty, and culture—it was spiritually distracted. Paul reminds them (and us) that God's wisdom is revealed through the Spirit, not through what the world calls success.

💡 Having the mind of Christ means we pause, pray, and seek God's voice in all things—especially when the “good” things aren’t always “God” things.
We’re challenged to become thermostats, not thermometers—setting the spiritual tone rather than simply reacting to culture.

🙌 Let this message remind you: if He’s called you to it, He will empower you through it. Stay humble, stay dependent on the Spirit, and believe that you have the mind of Christ.

In this week’s powerful message at 704 Church, we journey through Numbers 35 and explore the deep connection between the Levites, cities of refuge, and the foreshadowing of Jesus Christ as our eternal High Priest.

Starting with the backstory of Dinah's violation (Genesis 34), we see how Levi and Simeon’s brutal revenge brought lasting consequences. But through grace, God redeemed Levi’s line, making the Levites leaders, priests, and guardians of sacred space and justice.

📖 Key Teachings from Numbers 35:

• God gave the Levites 48 towns, including six cities of refuge—safe havens for those who killed unintentionally.
• These cities were revolutionary in their time, setting a precedent for civil justice over tribal retaliation.
• The idea of the Go’el (kinsman redeemer) reflects God's heart for redemption—someone who rescues, restores, and preserves family and tribal integrity.
• Bloodshed pollutes the land, and God's laws were crafted to uphold the sanctity of human life—all of which is rooted in Genesis 9: “For in the image of God, God made mankind.”
• Verses 26-28 show that refuge came with a price—the death of the high priest released the person from their sentence. This foreshadowed Jesus’ death, which now sets us free forever.

• Hebrews 6:19, 7:25-27, 8–10 — Jesus is our eternal High Priest, our ultimate refuge.
• 1 John 1:9 — If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive.

In this week’s sermon at 704 Church, we dive into Numbers 27:13, where Moses learns he will see the Promised Land but not enter it. His response? A powerful example of Godly leadership, surrender, and trust in God's plan.

Rather than resisting, Moses selflessly prays for God to raise up a leader to guide the people forward—showing us that sometimes, we are "called to" something, but not "called into" it. As leaders, we must learn to surrender to God’s greater plan, even when it means we don’t see the final outcome.

This passage also serves as a foreshadowing of Jesus:
➡️ Joshua (Yehoshua) was chosen and filled with the Spirit to lead the people, just as Jesus (Yeshua) was sent as the ultimate Shepherd.

King Balak of Moab, fearful of Israel’s growing power, sought to curse God’s people by hiring Balaam, a pagan prophet. Yet, despite Balaam’s initial resistance, God allowed him to go—but only to speak what He commanded. Three times, Balaam attempted to curse Israel, but three times, God turned the curse into a blessing, reinforcing His sovereign plan. 

This pattern of threes is deeply symbolic, echoing moments throughout Moses' leadership and pointing forward to Christ; watch the sermon to find out more!

Through Balaam’s story, we see that no scheme of man can override God’s promises. Just as He turned intended curses into blessings for Israel, He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Are you striking out of anger or speaking life!? This week's sermon by Lakeysha Medlin at 704 Church delves into the pivotal story of Numbers 20:2-13, where Moses' frustration and disobedience at the rock reveal a profound truth about our relationship with God. The Israelites, once again complaining and rebelling, tested Moses' patience to its limits.  Faced with their thirst and anger, Moses and Aaron sought God's guidance. God instructed them to speak to the rock, and it would yield water.  However, Moses, overcome with anger, struck the rock twice with his staff, a clear act of disobedience.  This seemingly small act carried significant consequences.

This sermon explores the deeper meaning behind this narrative.  We examine the symbolism of the rock as a representation of Jesus Christ, our Rock of Salvation. Just as the rock was struck once to provide water, Christ was sacrificed once for our sins (Hebrews 10:12). We don't need to strike the rock again; we need only speak to Him in faith.  Moses' act of striking the rock twice, and his angry words spoken to the people instead of the rock, highlight the dangers of relying on our own strength and reacting in anger rather than trusting in God's word.

We often, like the Israelites, allow our frustrations and circumstances to dictate our actions, leading us to disobey God's commands.  This passage serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience and the consequences of faithlessness.  Moses' disobedience prevented him from entering the Promised Land, a stark illustration of the cost of not trusting God fully.  The sermon also touches on the typology present in this passage, a special kind of symbol where the rock foreshadows Christ.  This understanding deepens our appreciation of Jesus as our life-giving source.

In this week's sermon from Numbers 16, Pastor Thaddeus Fennig unpacks the rebellion of the Koalites and the Reubenites as they challenged Moses and Aaron’s leadership. Their grumbling and thirst for power led to a dramatic judgment—the earth opened up to swallow them, and fire consumed the rest.

Yet, even in judgment, we see God’s mercy. Moses and Aaron, despite being opposed, interceded for the people, pleading for their lives. When a plague struck, Aaron stood between the living and the dead, offering incense as atonement—a powerful foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, who stood between life and death for us, offering Himself as the ultimate atonement for our sins.

This message challenges us to reflect on humility, obedience, and God’s justice and mercy. Will we humbly trust God’s leadership, or will we rebel against His ways? Jesus is our High Priest, standing in the gap so that we might have eternal life through Him.

In this powerful sermon from Numbers 14, we explore the faithlessness of the Israelites as they stood on the edge of the Promised Land. Despite God’s faithfulness and provision, fear and doubt led them to disobedience with lasting consequences. 

We also take a look at Moses' and Aaron’s humble leadership, Caleb and Joshua’s bold faith in the face of opposition. Their story reminds us that trusting God in difficult times, and canceling out the voices that distract around us is essential to receiving His promises.

But this story points us to Jesus, the greater Moses. Just as Moses pleaded with God on behalf of the Israelites, Jesus intercedes for us—but He does something even greater. Instead of just pleading for forgiveness, Jesus took the punishment we deserved upon Himself. The judgment that should have fallen on us was placed on Christ at the cross.

The book of Hebrews declares Jesus greater than Moses, showing that while Moses led the Israelites to the Promised Land, Jesus leads us to true, abundant, and everlasting life. Through His sacrifice, we are made alive with Christ—not by our works, but by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:1-9).

This message challenges us to trust God’s promises, choose faith over fear, and follow Christ wholeheartedly, knowing that we have been given a greater leader, a greater calling, and a greater promise—one that begins now and lasts for eternity.
