The Tao of Self-Confidence

720: Reinvent Yourself With Sara Porritt

Listen Later

Sara Porritt is the podcast host of Hear Us Roar which is a podcast featuring inspired conversations with fearless Asian women about how ideas and passions can ignite transformative journeys. Growing up as a first-generation Chinese immigrant in suburban Maryland with aspirations of becoming an R&B singer, Sara quickly realized that through her pursuits, she would be fighting for the love and respect of not only her family and native community, but also of an industry that has yet to have embraced someone of her background.  Since that time, Sara has shattered stereotypes by launching a record label at the age of 17 with a Grammy winning music producer, VJ’ing for MTVu while attending Princeton University, and starring in CW’s “The Next” alongside rapper Nelly.
Sara shares how she was able to reinvent herself when she decided to join an all Asian female R&B singing group and how it helped her boost her confidence and be her true self in the process.
