Today, we know Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach as the powerhouse writer-director couple that brought us movies like ‘Frances Ha,’ ‘Lady Bird,’ ‘Marriage Story,’ ‘Little Women (2019)’, and yes, ‘Barbie.’

But when this duo first met, Greta was a little-known actress from the mumblecore indie film scene. Fourteen years her senior, Noah was married to actress Jennifer Jason Lee. Greta landed a role in Noah’s film “Greenberg,” which he had co-written with his wife. So it raised some eyebrows when, a year or so later, Noah Baumbach’s marriage dissolved and he started dating this intelligent young artist, Greta Gerwig.
