On March 8, 2009, 22-year-old Orlando Tercero strangled fellow SUNY Binghamton nursing student Haley Anderson to death in his off-campus residence in Binghamton, New York. He then fled to Nicaragua, where he held dual citizenship, leading to his arrest and prosecution there for the crime of femicide.
