I was inspired to record this episode based on an application I received for one of my programs, and I think it’s an important topic to hit upon. Someone wrote that a reason they were hesitant to start a bookkeeping business is because, as a CPA, they felt funny about what people would think about them stepping into a lower-level accounting role. Interesting, right?
After some crowdsourced research, though, I found that a lot of people had this same worry and, let’s call it like we see it, shame around a bookkeeping business as a CPA. I am super proud of my business, so this seemed foreign to me, and I wanted to take some time to address what is a common feeling.
Here’s what I touch on in the episode:
I hope that if you’re someone who’s felt shame around their bookkeeping business, this episode really helps you to step away from that and to stop seeking external validation. Having a business that affords you the ability to build a life you love is something to take pride in, and that’s definitely what I want for each person that I work with.
