The Tijuana River Valley: A Hidden Environmental Disaster

This week on the Accountability Podcast, we're taking a hard look at a pressing issue that's been plaguing the community of Imperial Beach for decades. The Tijuana River Valley, a 1,750-square-mile watershed, has been dumping raw sewage and toxic chemicals into the ocean, affecting the health and livelihoods of those living in the area. Joining us to discuss this critical issue are Mike Netter, a candidate for state senate in the San Gabriel Valley, and Steve Barry, a candidate for city council in Imperial Beach.

The conversation delves into the complexities of the problem, including the lack of accountability from the Mexican government and the need for a comprehensive solution that involves both the US and Mexican governments. Our guests share their personal experiences and insights, highlighting the devastating impact of the sewage crisis on the local community. From the economic effects on businesses and homeowners to the health risks for residents, the discussion is a wake-up call for those in power to take action.

As we explore the issue, we hear from local leaders and experts who are working tirelessly to bring attention to this pressing problem. We also examine the role of the state and federal governments in addressing the crisis, and the potential solutions that could be implemented to mitigate the effects of the sewage.

If you're concerned about the health and well-being of your community, this episode is a must-listen. Join us as we explore the Tijuana River Valley and the urgent need for action to address this environmental disaster. Listen to the full episode to hear the stories, insights, and solutions that will leave you feeling informed and inspired to make a difference.
