Western Sydney International Airport has reached a major milestone with the activation of its transmission substation, part of a $320 million power project for the aerotropolis region. The new energy grid will service an expected 1.5 million additional residents moving to Western Sydney over the next decade and support up to 200,000 new jobs. The substation is part of a masterplan for the entire 11,000 hectare area, including the city of Bradfield, which is still under construction.
