The Sydney Marathon will see a record 40,000 runners from 162 countries compete this weekend, following a route that starts in North Sydney, crosses the Harbour Bridge, passes through the CBD and Centennial Park, and finishes at the Opera House. Major road closures include the Harbour Bridge, Cahill Expressway and Western Distributor shutting in both directions from 4am to 10am Sunday, with other roads closed into the afternoon. The event has grown 20% from last year's 33,000 participants, with organisers expecting around half a million spectators to line the streets.
