It was just over a decade when an unknown fitness teacher in Boston, Cassey Ho, made a simple workout video for her students and put it up on YouTube. It was only meant for her 30 pilates students to use when Cassey couldn’t make it to her classes at the gym. But that one video catapulted Cassey into the internet universe and launched what would become an incredibly successful fitness empire. Her Blogilates Channel on YouTube has more than 4 million subscribers and has racked up over 500 million views. But with great success came even greater scrutiny. Cassey, who prided herself on using her authentic voice in her fitness blogs about everything from body image to her Asian pride drew criticism, whether it was warranted or not. That led Cassey to lose her own identity, voice and motivation. She knew, however, she had to make a big change in order to, not only survive, but thrive once more.
