We get to chat to Paul about his story:
It was 2018 when found himself in a small, hot, smelly and dusty cabin in Saudi Arabia.
What had started out as an opportunity to create wealth and stability for his family was quickly turning into one of the biggest mental battles of his life.
He was falling apart. Afraid to speak up and embarrassed at his lack of mental toughness – how on earth did he get here and how could he possibly get out of the massive hole he had created.
The money was a huge motivator but as he stood alone in that small cabin the tears flowing freely down his face the guilt and shame of failing to Tough It Out brought illogical thoughts with it and…
In that moment he recognised just how far off track he had gotten and that this, this was the moment he had to choose life over everything else.
His a big man but in that space gees he felt small.
There’s a reason why the suicide & divorce rates are so high amongst the FIFO community, they don’t tell you about the isolation. No-one can explain the sense of loss from being away from your family for extended periods of time.
Not unless you’ve lived it yourself.
The bad habits he had created had taken him to a place where he felt he only had 2 choices....
And that scared the CRAP out of him.
He literally clawed his way out of the darkness – one moment at a time.
