I could gaslight myself and say this is "obvious" or common sense, but you know what... It's actually not. We, as women, who are caring for other people (have that be children, pets, parents, whoever!) tend to put a ton of nobility and morality upon that role. Maybe so we can get through it. Definitely because there is something sacred about being a caretaker. Of any sort!

But also ... it can be FAR TOO EASY to take on some unhealthy habits along the way. (Think: skipping meals, showers, sleep, etc.)

And look - a lot of it is necessary to do the job at that time.

But then, *for me at least*, it became part of the routine. When I could instead... I could actually start to choose a different way? It's not easy to prioritize myself, and WOW, I'm learning a lot while I'm trying to.

Oh, motherhood. It's complicated. And it is 10000% my biggest teacher about living and loving, and being there for the people I care about. And maybe, it's also becoming my biggest teacher about being there for myself, too.
