Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you can tell they aren’t even listening? Have there been times when you had really thoughtful conversations and wondered why more of these convos don’t happen regularly? Have you ever been excited to share something with someone that you unintentionally stop listening to them so that you won’t forget your thought? It’s very obvious to me & I’m sure many of you when someone is listening to what we have to say vs letting our voice in one of their ears and out the other.

Today I want to dive into how we can all become a great listener by allowing people to do the talking and asking questions along the way.

• Three steps for becoming a great listener
• • (1) Pay Attention With An OpenMind : Put down the phone, forget what happened yesterday and don’t worry about what you need to do later. Give the moment your undivided attention and keep an open mind.
  • (2) Ask Questions Unapologetically: There is no such thing as a stupid question so don’t hesitate to ask. Nobody is judging you and if they are, gett’em outta here!
  • (3) Learn From Others Experiences : Take what other people have learned in their journey and apply it within your own life.

 

Challenge for the listeners

• Think about the last thoughtful & meaningful conversation you had with someone
• • Did you pay attention with an open mind? Did you ask questions unapologetically? Was there anything they said that you may have learned from them?
• Spend 60 seconds today and think about how you can become a better listener
