This week we sit down with the owner of the 33m Benetti Odyssey III. As well as refitting this 1967 beauty, Sykes has also been involved with the multi-million pound restoration of Grantley Hall, a 1600s countryside mansion that’s now one of Britain’s leading luxury hotels, which he bought together with his mother Valeria. Sykes talks about the small changes that have made a big difference his yacht, which became a project that the whole family was involved in; how he was forced to change careers after the financial crisis of 2008; what he still has to learn in the world of hospitality; and why for him, success is so much more than the bottom line of a balance sheet.
