Most of us know the saying, "treat others as you'd like to be treated." It's a great thing to keep in the back of your mind as you interact with others, and it even has Biblical origins.

As I grew as a leader, however, I learned that there's a better way to say it: "Do unto others as they would like to be treated." To serve others, you have to first find out how people want to be treated, and then find a way to treat them that way—even if that's different from how you would want to be treated.
