#90 - Escape the Debt Trap

  1. Review all subscriptions: Take a close look at your monthly or yearly subscriptions. This includes streaming services, gym memberships, apps, and more. Cancel or change plans to live within your means.
  2.  Avoid Credit Dependency: Use cash or debit: Whenever possible, use cash or a debit card to pay for purchases. This helps prevent accumulating debt from credit card interest. Pay off existing debt: Focus on paying down existing debts, starting with high-interest ones and/or pay small debts off completely while still paying a reduced amount on larger ones. This will reduce your financial burden over time. Resist new credit offers: Avoid opening new credit lines and prioritise managing and reducing your current debt load. This means NO CREDIT CARDS.
  3. Live Within Your Means: Create a budget: Outline your income and essential expenses (housing, food, utilities, etc.). Ensure your spending is lower than your earnings. Prioritise needs over wants: Focus on purchasing essentials and delay or avoid splurging on non-essentials until you have saved for them. Build a savings buffer: Regularly set aside a portion of your income to build an emergency fund, which can help avoid debt in unexpected situations.
