WA motorists who use their mobile phone while driving could face even more scrutiny from authorities with a new camera trial.

WA Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner said the state had recently adjusted fines and demerit points for certain penalties, particularly drivers on mobile phones.

"We increased mobile phone fines significantly and we're looking to enforce those, or look to a trial of safety cameras, to pick up [more] mobile phone use," he told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.
