91. How To Activate Yourself When You Are Triggered

Listen Later

Triggering” has become a buzzword in the coaching industry, and it’s time to talk about it. The context in which this word originated is heavy, but by applying a new concept and reframing your reaction to this word, you can navigate your response in a more empowering way.

In this episode, I am talking about how to take back your power by taking radical responsibility for the situation or emotional response of being triggered. I want you to look inward as I explain why you are being “activated”, what this means, and how you can shift your energy around this transformative experience by approaching it from a different perspective.

”When it comes to our own work, we have to remember that we are responsible, radically responsible for our own feelings or emotions. Nobody can make us feel anything. It is our choice to feel those feelings and to allow ourselves to feel that.” - Carissa Johnsen

“That is where our greatest capacity for change and transformation comes from, is when we understand that we are responsible for all lives, our own results, and everything that we ultimately want.” - Carissa Johnsen

What we covered:

  • Where the blame is placed when we are triggered
  • What a trigger is actually doing to you
  • How to find empowerment in a triggering situation
  • Doing the inner work and taking responsibility
  • Changing your perspective so you can move forward
