936. The Flood Subsides (Genesis - Chapter 8) - January 1, 2026

Listen Later

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will then key in on verse 7 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Friends, the word fear hear actually means to be in "awe" of God (of His goodness, and the mercy He has towards us, and of all that He has done for us). We do not want to be fools. We want wisdom and we want to have understanding (fools do not want either of these). On today's lesson we will continue the study that I began on Monday's podcast & continued on yesterday's podcast. Today we will be going over the 8th chapter of the Book of Genesis. By the end of today's lesson there are three things I ask that you consider:

1. Noah built an altar to the Lord (notice this is the first thing that Noah did when he descended out of the Ark (it was to give praise and honor to God - for His great deliverance. Friends, I suggest that we do the same thing today as often as we can.

2. I will never again curse the ground for man's sake. (God realized that man was man - and that the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth. This is why God made a covenant with Noah never to again send another flood to completely destroy the earth.

3. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease (friends, this is the cycle which happens every day, every calendar year, etc. We will always plant seeds (which will be followed by a harvest); we will always have cold and heat (depending of which season of the year we are currently in); we will always have the four seasons, we will always have day and night throughout eternity.
