Today, I’m joined by Communications Director Kate Lawless and Program Manager Hannah Soble from the Franklin County Community Development Corporation. We also have Lev Benezra from the amherst survival center, evita wilbur from pulse cafe

They’re here to discuss a unique grant program that’s funding local restaurants to prepare meals, which are then distributed to food-insecure communities across the Commonwealth—including right here in western Massachusetts.

This initiative is putting $450,000 into action, helping provide around 50,000 meals while also supporting restaurants facing rising costs, staffing challenges, and shifting consumer habits in the wake of the pandemic. It’s a win-win for both the restaurants and the individuals who rely on food pantries and community meal programs.
