95bFM: Sounding Off with Phil Goff

From protests, to anchor fees, and speedways, His Worship has a lot on his plate this week. Do we really need to get rid of the speedway, what's a bit of noise pollution? And are we really extending the wharf with more concrete? Mayor, Phil Goff, has got the answers.

His Worship has announced he will be running for Mayor, again! Huge news. But His Worship always has time to talk about illegal dumping, fireworks, and leaky buildings, as well.

Mike reckons he's the King of Funk, you may also know him as His Worship or the Mayor of Auckland, Phil Goff dials in to catch up with Mikey about the state of housing? Where are we at? Is it really getting better? Also covering the recent report of Youth Mortality Rates in New Zealand and the never-ending saga with Lime scooters.

His Worship's been attending some local meetings, with concerns rising over a lack of police presence in Mangere Bridge, locals are calling for a solution. And it seems like just a few weeks ago we were talking a new stadium, but now it appears Auckland Council needs to sort out the financial burden of Eden Park first? A lot going on in Tāmaki Makaurau.

His Worship talks to Mike about taxes, the compulsory contribution to state revenue, ah, lovely. But what about property tax? Particulary, downtown? Hmm. Also covering the Creative Communities Scheme funding available for Tāmaki Makaurau art projects. Nice.

Today we're talking the environment, with forecasted sea-levels on the rise, what will happen to our beautiful coastal city? Speaking of beautiful, what about the Kauri tree's around KiteKite falls? Are we keeping those tracks clear? His Worship is on the case, protecting Tāmaki Makaurau.

His Worship talks our issues with public transport, is it reliable here in beautiful Tāmaki Makaurau? And what about these golf courses, good use of space? Mikey and the Mayor talk all the important stuff here on bFM Breakfast.

Tackling some more serious topics with the Mayor this week, Auckland Council's disproportionate submissions representations, pulling the trees out in Western Springs Park and did we hear the bus fares are increasing again?!

His Worship and Mike are bringing in the New Year talking regulation those speedy Lime scooters, ways to avoid spreading the Kauri dieback, and the dreaded helicopters are back... Safe to say that Mike's not stoked about it.

His Worship talks money well spent, right? $600,000 towards private investigators helping to stop graffiti, and Christmas entertainment, of course. We're sensing a few themes this week, Merry Christmas Mayor.
