Gayle chats with Bennett on Most Requested Live with Romeo and shares how she got started, why pursuing music is important, her dream venue to perform in, her most-used apps on her phone, which tattoos are next for her, musical inspirations, her favorite person on TikTok, and so much more!
The "abcdefu" singer says she had a love of performance when she was very young and began writing songs when she was just 10 years old, at which point she began also learning guitar. "My poor mother, I'd go up to strangers [in restaurants] and be like 'Hi, I sing.'"
Her dream performance venue? Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, which she performed at once as a background dancer for one song during a Pink Floyd performance. An event that came about from being in Boys & Girls Club. "Everything I've done was to go back to that moment and be able to stay on that stage."
Gayle also shares that her inspirations include Aretha Franklin, Delacey, Julia Michaels, Upsahl, Holly Humberstone, Chloe Lilac, HAIM, and Alanis Nadine Morissette. "I wanna be Aretha Franklin when I grow up. That is exactly what I wanna do."
Besides TikTok, Snapchat is her second mont-used app on her phone, followed by Pinterest (especially for tattoos). If "abcdefu" gets 100 million streams, her mother said she can get a tattoo. She ended up getting a smiley face on her wrist.
Share's that her favorite person to follow on TikTok is musician Jacob Collier - "Who are you and who said this was okay for one human being to know this much and be this talented? It's not fair!"
She also talks about the importance of having parental support for their kids who are pursuing music. "You do not choose music, it chooses you."
