Gillian Bird of the DSPCA joined Rebecca and Brendan on the Big Breakfast this morning to chat about the strange places that animals have gotten stuck.

She mentioned that birds are the worst for getting stuck and tend to get stuck in the roofs and lighting fixtures of new buildings because they are drawn to the bright lights.

Cats also came up in the conversation but she said that cats tend to get stuck in the basements of Georgian buildings in Dublin and typically cats are difficult to get out of these situations.

When asked if they use drones, Gillian said they use drones quite often but haven't used a sausage tied to it. This is in the wake of a rescue of a dog in the UK over the weekend in which a drone with a sausage tied to it was used to save a dog in distress.

Wicklow Alpaca Farm Says Alpaca's Love Munching Pine Needles From Christmas Trees

Joe Phelan from K2 Alpacas in Wicklow was on 98FM's Big Breakfast.

This morning on the Big Breakfast we had the Actor who starred in one of the biggest Christmas movies ever made. Olivia Olson played Joanna in Love Actually.

It has been almost twenty years since the release of the film but the movie has remained a hit thanks to people watching the romantic flick at Christmas time in particular.

She famously sings ''All I want For Christmas'' the Mariah Carey hit in the movie. Olson said it ''really felt like I was performing, like I was in the movie because all of the cast and famous actors were part of that scene so they made up the audience''.

Olivia said the kiss in the movie was her first kiss and she did have a ''little bit of a crush'' on fellow actor Thomas Brodie Sangster. She said it was her first kiss ever not just her first on screen kiss and she said it ''is super strange'' that all of it was on camera but that not everyone has that experience.

Jason talked to Rebecca and Brendan about how lockdown has a bit of a whirlwind. First of all he said he lost all his gigs during lockdown and started doing sketches at home because he was a little bit bored.

These sketches however weren't without their own controversy. For one of these sketches he dressed up as fitness influencer Joe Wicks and drew a six pack on his stomach! However he might have drawn another ''appendage'' on himself which resulted in the star not only getting his TikTok post deleted but his entire account being deleted by the social media platform.

Byrne spoke candidly about his recent heart surgery and how he had stents put in after he got a tight pain in his chest while on a run in Portmarnock. He said the procedure was done in 30 minutes, the doctors discovered that the comedy star had three blocked arteries but he is fine now we were all happy to hear!

Irish singer-songwriter Erica Cody joined The Big Breakfast ahead of her New Year's Day Concert in Dublin castle where she is one of the main acts alongside True Tides and Brad Heidi with Gavin James headlining the gig.

She spoke to Brendan about her academy gig a few weeks ago which she said was ''insane'' and that after almost two years of performing on live streams rather than to a live crowd she said it took a good few days for her to come down off the high of the performance.

When asked if she would consider joining the contestants on Dancing with the Stars this coming January she hinted that she would be excited if she was asked but that she is very busy and it might not fit in her schedule.

This morning on the Big Breakfast Rebecca was joined by Reindeer handler Eddie Drew. If you have been watching the TV recently which we all have, you have seen the Christmas Supervalu advert for this year.

The advert follows a little girl who nurses an injured reindeer called ''Deermuid'' back to health before watching him fly off to be with Santa just in time for Christmas. Deermuid was abandoned as a youngster 5 years ago and Eddie has been taking care of him since then.

Curiously enough though, Deermuid disappears for about two days around Christmas which Eddie has no explanation for …

Deermuid's pre-tv diet consists of digestive biscuits and carrots.
