A Beautiful Day Devotional Podcast

It is FRI-YAY! And shout-out day. As we wrap up our Bible Characters series with Joseph today, we learn with Pastor Jeff that Joseph forgave his brothers and saw God's hand in his life.

Genesis 45:5-7 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

Today, Pastor Jeff tells us about when Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams. You might not need to interpret a friend's dream, but when you see your friend sad or anxious about something, you can say that God is in control. God loves and cares for every one of us.

Genesis 41:28-30 28 "It is just as I said to Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do. 29 Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt, 30 but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land.

Pastor Jeff teaches us today that, like Joseph, we should be aware that what we have or do is a daily gift from God.

Genesis 41:39-40 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you."

Today, Pastor Jeff shares that, just like we learned with Daniel, Joseph quickly recognized God's glory and power when the time came.

Genesis 41:15-16 15 Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it." 16 "I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires."

This is the last week of the Bible Characters of the Old Testament series, and Pastor Jeff will share about Joseph. Today, we learn that Joseph teaches us that even in hard situations, we can serve God in His strength, and the Lord can work wonders through us.

Genesis 39:2-4 2 The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.

It is FRI-YAY! And shout-out day. Today, Pastor Jeff shares that God planned for each person in our family to be born and to keep on with the family line.

Ruth 4:18-22 18 This, then, is the family line of Perez: Perez was the father of Hezron, 19 Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab, 20 Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, 21 Salmon the father of Boaz, Boaz the father of Obed, 22 Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David.

In Ruth's story, today we learn with Pastor Jeff that as Ruth had shown kindness to Naomi, her mother-in-law, by leaving her country, Boaz, a close relative of Naomi, also showed kindness to Ruth.

Ruth 4:11 11 Then the elders and all the people at the gate said, "We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the family of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.

Pastor Jeff shares today through the story of Ruth that God is in control of all things and provides for our needs in many ways.

Ruth 2:2-3 2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, "Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor." Naomi said to her, "Go ahead, my daughter." 3 So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek.

Today, Pastor Jeff shares about Ruth's beautiful commitment to her mother-in-law. God showed us the greatest commitment when he sent Jesus as our Savior and Lord.

Ruth 1:16-18 16 But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.

Happy Monday! We are in week 5 of our Bible Characters series, and we will learn more about Ruth with Pastor Jeff. Today, we learn about her kindness.

Ruth 1:8 8 Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go back, each of you, to your mother's home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness... to me.
