  • St. Paddy's Beers - Beer With Atlas 134 - the original travel nurse craft beer podcast
Celebrate St. Patrick's day by diving into some rich beer history with us alongside some rich beers ... with Rich!
The Beer Crew makes Black and Tans with a pale ale on the bottom and a traditional stout on top (usually Guinness or Murphy's). We talk about the history of the drink and how you only order a half and half in Ireland.
And we celebrate St. Paddy's with some Snakebite beers and a literal history of snakebites in Ireland. Not to sound too clickbaity, but the truth might surprise you!
Basically, these are excuses to pour a stout into another drink, and we are here for it.
Here's to a bit o' the luck of the Irish sticking with us all through the new year. Cheers!

  • .394 Pale Ale | Tony Gwynn | AleSmith Brewing Company - A Beer With Atlas 133
.394 is the closest anyone has got to hitting a .400 since Ted Williams in 1941. Who did it?
We're talking baseball Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn. AKA Mr. Padre.
Listen Here, as Brian and Rich drink this delicious Pale Ale Brewed out of this park by San Diego's AleSmith Brewing Company. The Beer gang then dives into Tony's stats, career, and hall of fame induction. Brian also opens a pack of cards that he has owned for over 30 years in hopes to get a Tony Gwynn card. How cool would that be???
Find more episodes of A Beer With Atlas on our website. All allied health, healthcare workers, and just general craft beer fans are welcome. We'll help you find the perfect drink!
Whenever our travel nurses, techs, and therapists visit new areas of the country, they find great local craft beers that we highlight.

  • Steve Austin Broken Skull IPA - A Beer With Atlas 132 - travel nurse craft beer podcast
WELCOME TO THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT SLAM!
We took our Beer Crew and threw them into the ring with nothing but a pile of empty IPA bottles, a steel chair, a 2x4, and a bag that may or may not have a snake in it. Who will win!?
The big winner here is this Steve Austin Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo Brewing Co. in California.
Inspired by wrestling and this beer's eponymous namesake, we chat all things wrestling from the WWF days through WWE and WCW. Ric Flair, the Steiner Brothers, Shawn Michaels, Hacksaw Jim (Hooooo!), Hulk Hogan, and more. If they wielded a piece of lumber, furniture, or reptile in the ring, we talk about them.
Dive into our barbed wire trivia discussion, which, you would think a crew in Nebraska would know a little more about. No worries, we'll get a roll of it and wind it around Steve Ryan's truck to prepare it for 2020 TWO: The Revenge of Quarantine (Please be joking).
Join us for a beer and a chat!
We can't say we're gonna whoop your ass (because, legally, our lawyers advised against it), but we do open up a can of this IPA and would definitely recommend it.
That's the bottom line, because A Beer With Atlas says so. (And because we're out of beer.)
    Cheers!
(Side Note: I've been to the barbed wire museum, and it was actually pretty dang cool.)

  • Enos Pils, Rock Cut Brewing Company - Beer with Atlas 131 - travel nurse craft beer podcast
This week, we join the mile-high club with a beer from Estes Park, Colorado.
This Enos Pils from Rock Cut Brewing comes to our Beer Crew by way of Rich Smith who picked it up in Colorado.
We talk about the history of Estes Park (an Atlas favorite), Enos Mills (the guy the beer is named for), and ... other things.
Brian digs into the random trivia hard drive to pull out all of the factoids you've been demanding to know about Rocky Mountain Oysters. You know, Canadian Meatballs. Huevos del Torro. Or, as they are known colloquially in some regions: Dusty Nuts.
    Cheers.
(I feel like I owe Brian $5 or something for losing a bet since he got me to type out Dusty Nuts.)

  • Kung Pao Imperial Stout, Stillwater Artisanal - Beer With Atlas 130 - craft beer for travel nurses
    Kung Pao Chicken Beer?
We know what you're thinking. Someone was brave enough to combine Chinese food into a craft beer. FINALLY! Now you don't have to make your ramen noodles with Pabst anymore (#PBRnoodles).
There's got to be a better way!
    And now there is!
This unique blend of flavors is brewed to taste like Kung Pao sauce. We chat about the history of Kung Pao chicken in America, the rise of Sriracha as a dominant hot sauce, and how Stillwater Artisanal has been making a name for themselves with unique craft blends.
Brewed with chili powder, ginger, Sichuan pepper, sea salt, and peanut extract, this is one that has to be tried to believe.
So does this motley blend of spices and cultures work? Well, Stillwater Artisanal has been awarded the No. 2 slot for Best New Brewer in the World by Ratebeer.com, and ranks in the global 100 list. Not shabby. We do love an underdog.
    Cheers.

  • Valentine's Beers BYOB - Beer With Atlas 129 - the travel nurse craft beer podcast
Our Brew Crew of dedicated Cider Boys ziplines into Valentine's Day with a BYOB selection of craft beers you can share with that special someone.
Featuring a Double Chocolate Orange Stout from local Zipline Brewing out of Lincoln, Neb., a Raspberry Radler from Stiegl's out of Austria (a little less local), and a Strawberry Magic Cider by Stevens Point Brewery in Wisconsin -- we think this selection of craft beers is as sweet as you are!
And if you're alone this Valentine's Day, you can still enjoy a good brew and this Broken Hearts playlist assembled by our resident music guru, Brian Pedersen. Consume both responsibly.

  • Lil Buddy little lager, Hopewell Brewing Co - Beer With Atlas 128 - travel nurse craft beer podcast
    Who's the best Lil' Buddy?
This week, we dive into the lil buddy micro-brew micro-can from Hopewell Brewing Co. out of Chicago.
While this littlest of buddies and beverage sidekicks only comes in a snackable 8-oz can, it's full of the peppy can-do attitude of yesteryear.
In fact, all of Hopewell's can art designs designs lean toward vintage 50's and 60's art styles, reminiscent of white-walled tires, bowling alleys, Formica counter-tops at the local diner, Howdy Doody and perhaps a pinch of Captain Kangaroo.
Sit back with a Lil Buddy or your favorite beverage of choice, and enjoy the vibe of having a brew with friends while the Statler Brothers' Flowers on the Wall plays in the background. (If you go back to the lyrics on that one, it reads a bit like he's social distancing during a pandemic. Just sayin'.)
    Cheers.

  • Careful With That Raspberry Eugene by Beachwood Blendery | PINK FLOYD - A Beer With Atlas 127
Hey you! We love spending time together over a good brew. And we wish you were here as we grab this Belgian Style Sour Ale aged in oak barrels with raspberries.
This week, we have a sour ale that is infused with equal parts raspberries and Pink Floyd, coming to you from Beachwood Blendery out of Long Beach, California.
Try this brew straight from the can, in a pint glass, or in a saucerful of secrets and lap it up like animals and dogs. We're not sure how much we can take before we hit the wall, but who are we to meddle with a good craft brew? We've had a few momentary lapses of reason after recording four Beer With Atlas episodes back-to-back, but we have high hopes this brew will keep you fueled and on the run.
Got a favorite craft brew or Pink Floyd story? Something that helped you feel fearless through 2020? Speak to me. Tell us in the comments and we'd love to hear from you. Seriously. Is this thing on? Is there anybody out there?
One of these days we'll be able to get back together and have a beer in person. But please pace yourself. Don't shotgun every beer you see. Mind your throats, please. Don't waste good beer. Until then, it's just us and them, you and Atlas. But we're ready for it!
When we can get together again, we'll run like hell to meet up and cover the tab until we're all comfortably numb -- in a good way.
    Cheers.

  • Drown Out 2020 - Ep 4 - Beer With Atlas 126 - the original travel nurse craft beer podcast
2021 is just beginning, but we can finally see the back of our office beer fridge as we clear it out to pour one out (or 12) for 2020.
Putting the previous year behind us is easier from a comfortable platform and with a good cigar, which is why we have two brews from Platform Beer Co. out of Cleveland, a Froot Hoops and a Caramelicious; then we finish it off with an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie from Cigar City Brewing.
Cold beers with friends, a sense of hope in the air, the vaccine rolling out, and a salute to a wild year --- not a bad way to start 2021.
Got a favorite beer that helped you through 2020 or is helping you through the beginning of 2021? Let us know in the comments.
    Cheers.

  • Drown Out 2020 - Ep 3 - Beer With Atlas 125 - the original travel nurse craft beer podcast
In the quest to find the perfect craft beer to Drown Out 2020, we make a strategic decision: drink everything in the Atlas HQ Beer Fridge.
This week we have an Open Door IPA from Dempsy's Brewing Co in Watertown, South Dakota, a Beer for Tacos (we're sold) from Rockwell Beer Co out of St. Louis, and a Byrd Up brew from Off Color Brewing in Chicago.
This hat trick of brewskies is hitting across the marks of the Midwest. Not a bad trio if you can manage it.
Got a favorite beer that helped you through 2020 or is helping you through the beginning of 2021? Let us know in the comments.
    Cheers.
