The 100th Birthday of Jack Kerouac calls us to invite Steve Edington, author of the forthcoming book THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JACK: Tracking Kerouac in My Life, and Jerry Cimino, creator and owner of the BEAT MUSEUM in San Francisco for a conversation!

This year is also the 60th anniversary of the publication of Kerouac's Big Sur!

We are previewing a couple of events coming up one at the Library on August 28 (reserve you spot here) and another in Lowell, Massachusetts October 6 - 10.

Jerry Cimino and his wife Estelle are celbrating this centennial by getting out on the road this year with their "Beatmobile" after a 15 year hiatus. GO HERE TO FIND OUT!

This again is a departure from Big Sur and back to the war in Ukraine.

I asked Anders Lindberg, the Political Editor-in-Chief of Aftonbladet, the largest newspaper in Sweden, if he would join us in A Big Sur Podcast to help us understand the situation in Sweden and the Nordic countries after the invasion of Ukraine. He very graciously accepted.

This is well worth listening to if you care about the war, and future peace, in Ukraine.

Magnus reached out to the faculty at Anthropology Dept. and received no response or a response saying "I decline" with a referral to the "University Media Dept." who said "the university is unable to comment at this time."
