Let's get ghosty! Follow my voice into the dreaded Bly Manor, for this spooky calm reading of Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw!" (Part 6!)
Good evening friends, fiends, and night owl supremes! Welcome back for more of the ghost story behind "The Haunting of Bly Manor" - "The Turn of the Screw" Part 6 (Chapters 15, 16, and 17!) The governess, of Bly Manor, reeling after a creepy encounter with little soo-smooth Miles Wingrave in the churchyard, rushes back to Bly Manor, her mind set on leaving it all behind! It’s there that she comes face to face with the ghost of Miss Jessel, in the schoolroom. She calls her terrible names, and the ghost vanishes. Later, she tells Mrs. Grose all about the encounter, and both women decide that yes, they have to write to the Flora and Mile's uncle in Harley Street, and get hime to come to Bly and sort the ghostly mess out. The governess tries to start the letter, but goes and hovers outside of Mile’s bedroom instead. She and he talk more openly about all the creepiness, but not really? It’s still cat and mouse. She threatens that she is writing the uncle, and Miles is like “good. It's about time you saw to my education.” She then admits that she wants to help him fight whatever it is that is troubling him so (it's the ghost of Peter Quint!), but then Miles screams, it gets really windy (even though the window is closed), and the candle goes out. Miles creepily says it was him who did it, but he adds a “dear,” so we kinda think it’s not HIM speaking anymore…Tonight is Part 6, or chapters 15, 16, and 17, of this long, old ghost story, and things are taking a turn for the spookier! This tale, Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw," is read in a soft voice and set to some light and eerie background music. I do hope you enjoy this evening's ghost story!
