A Bit of Fun with Emily

We're ending season 5 with a conversation full of other Muppet and Jim Henson moments I love.  From Fraggle Rock to the Frog Prince and almost everywhere inbetween.  I hope you have some pop culture corner you love as much as I love the master storytelling and memorable characters that Henson built...no matter how old I get.

“When people told themselves their past with stories, explained their present with stories, foretold the future with stories, the best place by the fire was kept for... The Storyteller.”  My introduction to the gem that was John Hurt, and the joy that is retellings of mostly early German folktales.  Today we're talking about The Storyteller.

Apparently it was created with the intention of being creepy and dark. It worked. Today we're talking about the journey of Jen in The Dark Crystal

Hands down one of my FAVORITE movies of all time.  Should it be?  That's probably up for debate, but there's just something about Bowie as a goblin king and the world Henson created that is filled with all the nostalgia.  Today we're talking about Labyrinth.

In 2011, the Muppets made a mighty return.  They even won their first academy award.  And they brought me to tears SEVERAL times.  Today we're talking about the love letter that is The Muppets.

It might not be my favorite, but it stars two of my favorite actors...Kermit the Frog and Tim Curry.  So it might actually be the PERFECT movie.  Tune in today for a fun conversation about the fifth theatrical Muppet release.

In which I get long winded talking about my love for The Muppets Take Manhattan - in which a frog and his Muppet friends take a bus to New York City to try to make it big on Broadway. "Bocko socko." "I love your hair don't ever change it."

Welcome to the least tense heist movie of all time because the entire plot is revealed in intentional exposition.  And that's why I love the Muppets, because whenever they're around, nothing - not even the disappearance of extremely valuable jewelry - is that big of a deal.  And you also get the Sam Eagle quote, "You are all weirdos."  Just the best.  In today's episode we're discussing the second Muppet theatrical release, The Great Muppet Caper.

I've been waiting for this season for months, and need no excuse at all to talk about my favorite pop culture topic - The Muppets.  In today's episode we're kicking off season 5 with a fun conversation about their first theatrical release, The Muppet Movie.

"All right, we'll go to your place and you can show me your organ. But I'm warnin' you, it'd best be havin' music comin' out of it." A conversation about some of Dolly's memorable movie performances as a part of her specially dedicated appreciation week.
