A meltdown and a marriage all in one weekend? In between was plenty of good alcohol, good weed, and good food. Most of all, I was able to take all those memories with me. The Mother of Ra makes her return and she is here to stay.

Pulling inspiration from The Handmaid's Tale, I vented a little bit tonight. This series has touched and inspired me in so many ways. I have never felt empowered and absolutely terrified by a fictional show. We as women need to hold each other accountable and support one another. We as Black women need to uplift and protect each other. We will leave our mark and they will remember us. They don't have a choice.

Time seems to be flying by and sometimes we just cant keep up. On the flip side sometimes time stands still and we feel stuck and discouraged. The goal is to move at our own pace with time in a way that we feel progressive. We need to set goals and work towards them every. single. day. We have to stop allowing things to hold our time hostage. We need to stop wasting time.

We are walking hand in hand into the darkest part of the forest to confront our monsters. Doubt, anxiety, depression, and fear are no longer welcome here. We have created these monsters by not acknowledging and understanding our emotions. We have allowed fear to imprison our subconscious. The very place that once offered us peace is now overrun by confusion. We are taking our minds back. We are no longer afraid of the dark.

With the loss of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain this week, mental health has been a constant conversation topic. I am willing to share my own battles with depression to show others dealing with similar feelings that they are not alone. We need to be aware that the strongest among us often suffer in silence. We need to get back in touch with human connection and be willing to love those who aren't perfect.
