I wrote and recorded "A Brand New Day" for the 2025 WXPN 24-Hour Song Challenge that took place between noon EDT May 31 and noon EDT June 1. The prompt was the word "belong." I had it written by 5 a.m. EDT on June 1 and began rehearsing it to record the video I needed to record as my submission. Because I'm not really a live performer, I wanted to make sure I was ready to record the video I needed to submit for the contest. Well, I wound up messing up my voice so I did the best I could on the submission take...and it wasn't great. I quickly re-recorded the vocals a few hours after the contest ended (even though my voice hadn't fully recovered) so I could hear it closer to how I wanted it to sound. I also did a bit more mixing on it, but I wanted it to stay a bit raw in the spirit of the contest. A more polished version will likely be released at some point, but I wanted this "48-hour version" in the wild to better represent the song. If you want to watch the version I submitted for the contest, it's at https://songchallenge.xpn.org/2025/06/01/a-brand-new-day-ferocious-designs/
