I spent the first 8 years of my life in Fort Recovery, Ohio .  This town has a fascinating history. I shared the same socioeconomic and ethnic background with most of the people in this small town. We went to the same catholic church, had the same German heritage and went to the same schools.  Things dramatically changed when we were forced to move to a larger town when we were suddenly confronted with people with entirely different backgrounds and world views.

Most people want nothing to do with being poor. Yet to be poor in spirit is the most important quality any human being can possess ; it is the only thing that can bring lasting riches.

Every person in the world experiences death. Each one  feels the slap of grief from the death of a loved one  and will personally experience death. Yet our culture does not like to talk about this experience, we would rather hear about the lives of the rich and famous or the latest political posturing.  But for those who experience death's sting there is great hope and a dire warning in God's word. 

Old people in our culture are marginalized. We have lost the ideal of honoring our elderly especially those who suffer disabilities. The dignity of seniors is rooted in one of God's great commandments and His special concern for those who are marginalized. 

Work has dignity. It has value and worth and is due honor because it comes from God. When we work we continue His creative work on the earth.

Post modernism minimizes objective truth. Instead the experience of the individual or group determines what is valued. This has led to dire consequences in our culture.

 Simulacrum is an image or representation of someone or something.  In our culture there is a   disconnect between simulacrum and the reality it was originally supposed to represent. This was the great concern of the French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. At its essence simulacrum in our culture can replace God and at its core amounts to idolatry.

 Many of the world's elite want to have a great reset in the world to combat climate change.  This podcast outlines this reset and how the Biden administration may contribute to it. The worldwide reset is finally examined in the light of the eschatology of the scriptures.

 Our nation is experiencing fear and fatigue from COVID 19. The elite want to use this as an opportunity to gain greater control and power.  The  response to this crisis needs to center on  basic facts and faith in God who knows our every need. People need to be trusted to make their own informed choices and live life to the fullest. 

Systemic racism is briefly explored and a few voices from American history who fought racism are articulated. Ultimately  racism's demise does not lie in destroying the dream of equality envisioned in our constitution but it is an individual choice. Collective self interest is perpetuated by the individual choices each of us make.
