Jesus marveled at the centurion's faith, not his works. -This gentile's belief that Jesus of Nazareth, under the authority of God, had the exousia -power, authority- over all creation, even the disease that was killing his slave. He knew that Jesus had the power of God to save, and he humbly sought His mercy. This great faith was not found in all of Israel, amongst those who trusted in their ethnicity and religion.
