This week I am chatting to extremely humble and very talented Director of Photography (DOP), Will Jack Robinson,
From early life as a creative student at Victoria College in Jersey to travelling around India filming some mentally tough documentaries, we chat about Will's career path and how he ended up becoming a DOP, when he was originally training as a motion graphics artiste.
We talk about how Will's Dyslexia has been a gift for him and how much he loves the blend of London chaos mixed with the calm of Jersey - especially when walking his two dogs at Green Island. Not bad for someone who originally had a phobia of dogs!
Will tells us about his thoughts on awards and film festivals as well as the importance of sharing knowledge with up and coming DOP's.
We also chat about the important role social media plays in showing work and accessing knowledge as well as the level of technology built in to the average phone camera.
While some would say Will is already a master of his craft, Will let's us in to his word of learning by doing as well as the importance of following the careers of his role models including the multi-award winning Sir Roger Deakins.
And with a passion for playing his guitar, we find out why Will would travel for two hours on a bus journey to play a 10-minute live music set!

In our first ever two-person interview, we chat with former BBC Radio Jersey presenters Sarah Palmer and Roger Bara. Both well-known names in Jersey, Sarah moved to the UK in 2015 and Roger to Northern Cyprus in 2012.
We chat about the 340 days of sunshine a year that Roger and his wife enjoy on the Turkish part of the Island as well as the Mental Health issues that sent them packing over to the 44 degree heat. We talk about how wonderful life is for Roger and what a difference one island makes to another.
Sarah talks about the things she will do for love as well as the importance of being involved in her local community in Fleckney. She talks about her freelance work during the pandemic as well as her purchase of a property also in Northern Cyprus.
And both chat about their own podcast all about the lesser-known Turkish northern part of Cyprus, the beauty of the island, the friendliness of the people and the relaxed pace it provides locals and expats alike.
Stick the kettle on, grab your earphones and have a listen - enjoy!

This week I have the honour of chatting with the multi-award winning and celebrated West End and Broadway Choreographer and Director, Mr Stephen Mear.
From his early days growing up in Loughborough where boys didn't move to London to follow a career in dance, to his college training days at the London Studio Centre where ballet initially was his worst genre, we chat about the numerous productions Stephen has had the joy of working both in and on - many while studying at college at the same time.
He talks about the early days of struggling with dyslexia and how a few negative words from his Maths teacher spurred him on and made him even more determined to achieve his dreams.
With a CBE, multiple Olivier Awards and numerous award nominations, we chat about the importance of recognition as well as a good college training.
We touch on the five shows he had cancelled at the beginning of the pandemic and why a certain number in Mary Poppins is rather special to him and his partner of 17 years.
And we find out why discipline, networking, attitude and kindness go a long way, hand-in-hand with talent.

Reality TV star and charity fundraiser Kate Taylor joins me this week as we chat about the huge success of TV show The Real Housewives of Jersey.
Kate talks about the challenges of the production show as well as some of the fun and pranks that went on behind the scenes. We chat about her current family situation and the challenges it brings along with her stuggles with the menopoause and her mental health.
We touch on some of her social media mishaps as well as the song she wrote for a very special person while on her travels, before lockdown. We even manage to squeeze in her thoughts on a certain favourite 'former' bar man from 'that' hotel as well as the comedy momemts when the housewives had to draw a naked man!
With lots of giggles, a few colourful words, plus some minor issues with Kate's iPhone, this podcast is one that I will never forget!
Enjoy!

This week I am chatting with the multi-award winning and celebrated designer of shows, plays, musicals, Live TV Specials and no fewer than 6 OSCAR ceremonies, Mr Derek McLane.
From his home in New York City, we chat about the art of designing theatical sets and his journey from being a young student at Yale Drama School through to receiving his Tony and Emmy awards.
With over 350 productions under his belt and many other awards too, we talk about peer recognition; where Derek gets his inspiration from; how collaboration is key and the importance of having someone to shadow in your early career years.
We also talk about the effect of the pandemic on the individuals in industry, especially on Broadway and the business linked to the vibrant city of New York.
On top of all that we chat about the outstanding production of Moulin Rouge and the plans for it to appear in London, Australia and the US tour.
We had a few technical sound issues on this one, but nothing can detract from the quality of talking to such an amazing Showbusiness star.
Enjoy!

Today we are chatting with Marco Barcella, who is based in the beautiful town of Henley on Thames, UK.
In a previous life, 35-year-old Marco was an expedition leader and a mountaineer, helping hundreds of people achieve their own mountainous challenges in exotic and far away locations such as Peru.
Since then, with a wife and with three kids in tow and his own business to run, Marco realised that life seemed to have become a little less adventurous and bit too 'normal'. That is of course, until Marco decided to go and sit in the freezing cold river Thames every day during the month of January, in just his shorts. Not only that, for the month of February, Marco is carrying 50 kilos of rocks in his rucksack to and from work every day - no mean feat for someone with knee issues.
Grab your earphones, put the kettle on and join us to find out.

After a few months off, we are chatting to former Jersey College for Girls student, Gigi Neil - in an interview we recorded a few months ago. Having trained in New York for just over three years, Gigi moved her knowledge and skill closer to home, in London. With plenty of love for the 50's it was no surpirse when Gigi auditioned and was offered the role of Marilyn Monroe at Universal Studios in Japan, a role she loved and really got her teeth in to. But how on earth does someone leap from being a famous Hollywood icon to playing the lead role (and only female actress) in the hit live-action stunt show - Waterworld? And what risks does a live stunt show in front of 3,000 people at a time, bring for a girl from Jersey well known for winning lots of trophies at the local Eisteddfod?
More importantly, what drives someone so young to then leave stunts behind and move from Japan to Canada?
All of this and a whole lot more in the latest edition of my podcast - hope you enjoy! :)

This week we are chatting with photographer, dancer and visual merchandise manager at De Gruchy's, Darren Huelin.
We chat about Darren's creative work in the well known local department store as well as his love and passion for photogrpahy in addition to his background and training in dance at Performers College.
Darren tells us about the time he was flown out to Florida to take photos at a very prestigeous wedding as well as why he took over 20,000 photos at one of his own recent holidays.
We chat about life under lock down, which for Darren invovled the purchase of a new home with his lovely lady, as well as how much he loves eating cheese on toast at 2am.
We also touch on some of his favourite travel adventures and experiences including why he has a soft spot for the Hulk roller coaster in Islands of Adventure, in Orlando.

This week we are chatting with former Vic College head boy, Callum Stuart Main Gillies. Callum is currently based at the University College London as a Proton Therapy Physicist - helping to treat cancer patients within the state-of-the-art facility.
With having fairly well known parents on the island, it will come as no surpirse that when not helping to treat many serious conditions, in his spare time Callum can often be found performing with his swing band Down for the Count and even managed to help secure his Dad a slot at Ronnie Scott's in London.
The big question though...why does Callum own a skimpy pair of purple Primark hot pants?

We chat about the current impact of COVID-19 on the events industry as a whole both here and in the UK - and especially the effect on large events such as Glastonbury - a personal favourite of Rob's where he regularly works.
We also discuss why Rob's neighbours love Halloween, his favourite football team -West Ham and why he has a strange addiction to Jaffa Cakes.
We were also curious to find out why 500 people sang him Happy Birthday at a recent celebration...
