A Terrific Children's Story (Any Season)
As a retired childrenâs librarian, I love to celebrate great stories. I found A Christmas Dragon to be absolutely delightful in its fresh angle of the Christmas story. It also includes contemporary concerns (i.e. homelessness and fragmented families) that can evoke excellent family discussions. I look forward to sharing this book with my granddaughter when she is old enough for chapter books.
In addition, Sara Jewell did a wonderful job with her sequelâA Visit from a Shepherd Boy. It is perfect for both adolescents and young teens. If you haven't yet seen A Visit from a Shepherd Boy, please investigate it too!
Captivating Christmas story!
A Christmas Dinosaur has all the elements that will keep
a child's attention... with the true meaning of Christmas as the bottom line.
As a veteran children's librarian, I recognize a good read-a-loud, and this book has a
plot with ample adventure to captive young listeners. Josh is a delightful character who
is searching for stability and finds it through the love of his family and his introduction to Jesus.
The Christmas story is creatively portrayed in terms a child can understand.
The reading of A Christmas Dinosaur would be a valuable addition to every family's Christmas traditions...
or a great way to introduce the Christmas story to any child.
A Tween must Read!!!!
This was just such a great book to share with my child. The author has done a wonderful job of re-telling the Greatest Story ever told. She has found a way to tell the story of Christ's Birth with a beautiful mix of story telling and weaving in life lessons. One of those lessons were being Thankful for what you have, even when things seem at their worst.
This is a great bedtime story for younger children, and any tween would truly benefit from the message. This is so much more that just a Christmas Story.
