Lesson 25 of 53.In our last lesson, we learned about Abraham, the intercessor. In this lesson, we see Lo,t the compromiser, who spent his last days in a cave. While drunk, he fathered two nations, the Moabites and the Amorites, both of whom became bitter enemies of Israel.

Lesson 24 of 53.Abraham, a true friend of God, was able and willing to intercede for the wicked city of Sodom and for his nephew Lot and his immediate family. In this, Abraham is like Moses, who interceded for the nation of Israel when they went astray. George Mueller, impressed by Abraham’s intercession, interceded on behalf of the children in his orphanages in England.

Lesson 23 of 53.After Sarah’s servant-girl, Hagar, gave birth to Ishmael, Abraham and Sarah’s lives, spiritually speaking, seemed to be on hold. And then, after 13 years of silence, God gave them a new beginning, and with that new beginning, new names.

Lesson 22 of 53.When their promised son, Isaac, was as yet unborn and both Abraham and Sarah were too old to have children, they decided to take matters into their own hands. Sarah suggested that Abraham take her maid as a second wife in order to help God fulfil His promise. The result was disastrous both for themselves and the world around them.

Lesson 21 of 53.The Abrahamic Covenant concerning the nation of Israel and God’s covenant with the Bride of Christ cannot be altered. Israel is guaranteed the everlasting possession of the promised land, and Christians are promised eternal life through Jesus the Christ.

Lesson 20 of 53.As Abraham relinquished material advantages in order to live a separated life, he also rejected a sizable gift from the king of Sodom in order to keep a clear testimony before his heathen neighbours. Later, when he seemed to be having misgivings about the cost of these choices, God assured him of the spiritual blessings that awaited him.

Lesson 19 of 53.

In this lesson, we will see the man of faith and the man of materialism. Abraham and his nephew Lot had to separate because of their enormous possessions. In faith, Abraham chose separation from this evil world, while Lot chose the material wealth that goes along with compromise.

Lesson 18 of 53.

Abraham’s decision to leave the promised land because of a famine and flee to Egypt was a mistake. We can learn from Abraham’s mistake. We can determine in our hearts not to let fear drive us out of the centre of God’s will.

Lesson 17 of 53.

From that point on, God would narrow down His program to one man and his descendants. Through Abraham and the prophets of Israel, God would communicate with all mankind and send His Son to be their Saviour. Lesson 16 of 53.

After the flood, there was a pressing need to repopulate the earth, but rather than obeying God’s command to spread abroad upon the earth, mankind used the abilities and universal language God had given them to build a tower to commemorate their marvellous abilities. In response, God confused their language and divided them into separate language groups.
