Great news music fans: not only are Chris and David back with more great songs, but they have a new guest accompanying them! Joining them for this outing is a mate of David's from the comedy circuit: it's acclaimed comedian and writer Lizzy Lenco!
In this episode, Lizzy introduces the boys to something that has been a part of her own life: the concept of 'torch songs'. These are pieces of music that are used to try and bring people out of their darkest moments and back to a better place, whether that's playing them to someone in a coma, using them to help people with brain injuries or dementia, someone listening when they are suffering from depression, or something else entirely. Torch songs are testament to the power that music really wields.
Everyone has chosen examples of tracks they could consider to be personal torch songs and these range from acts such as The Sisters of Mercy, Slash and Primal Scream to many others, including a very obscure band called V8 Pack!
There's also an anecdote about attacking Jason Momoa, which apparently was accidental......
On a serious note, please do look out for each other and take care of yourselves. We hope our show has been able to bring you some kind of joy but if you are ever in need of help, please talk to someone. It might sound like a cliché, but that's because it works. Remember, there's always someone who's willing to listen and you deserve the best.

Have you ever listened to a single B-side and thought it was actually brilliant?
That's because there are plenty of great B-side tracks over the years and it's very important to check out these from your favourite artists, because if you don't, chances are you could be missing out on a gem or two!
Happily, Chris and David are here to help celebrate the glorious world of B-sides with a bunch of them that they actually consider to be better than their A-sides!
Artists featured range from Echo & the Bunnymen to Arctic Monkeys and (shamefully) this show's first ever appearance of The Beatles!
We'll see you on the flip-side!

Remember when The Jam sang about going underground?
Well that's exactly what we're doing in this episode, because not only are there great examples of under the radar tracks and artists, but the connection between all the songs is minerals!
Chris and David are joined once again by sci-fi enthusiast and all-round creative Donna Scott for a dig around to see what valuables can be found: here, they bring treasures from the likes of Pendulum, TV On the Radio, Deftones, All About Eve plus many more!
As an added bonus, mining for great music doesn't need to be a health and safety nightmare!
Not necessarily......

Welcome music fans! Not only do Chris and David have some more fantastic tunes to share with you, but they are joined by a brand new guest!
This man is a comedy promoter who gave David his first ever stand-up gig (for better or worse) as well as a huge music fan, DJ and very regular concert-goer: it's Nottingham-based entertainer Mike Bottomley A.K.A. Spiky Mike!
This show is also guaranteed to bring you some stellar song choices because the guys have picked songs from what they consider to be non-skip albums. Amongst the offerings on display are ones from Sex Pistols, Boston, The Prodigy and The Flaming Lips!
Oh, and the episode title doesn't refer to anyone featured, honestly.

It's no expenses spared whatsoever this time! Chris and David are throwing all cares for expenses and costs out the window with no expert guidance whatsoever. Martin Lewis would be (potentially) delighted because today's episode is all about..........money!
Sadly, there's no sign of ABBA here. Instead, this is a showcase of great tunes by Placebo, Simply Red, The Reytons and more!
What's more, the boys managed the whole recording without ranting for too long about the downsides of capitalism! They really tried their best.
NOTE: We would like to say that at time of recording, we were unaware of the allegations against 2 members of COIN which led to the group's disbandment in 2025

Friends, music offers an enormous plethora of styles, sounds and genres. One of those we've not explored very much since starting this project is folk music.
Folk is historically associated with the idea of bringing people together through the art of music and storytelling. This is our objective with this project, so join us from 12pm Tuesday when we release our next episode which dives into the wonderful and diverse world of folk!
Chris and David are joined once again by Scott and his partner Kelly as they explore tracks from the likes of Bob Dylan, Flogging Molly, Fisherman's Friends, Jesse Welles and many many more!
Also, is David truly human? We shall do our best to establish one way or the other.

Welcome back to A Crotchety Podcast for what may be the darkest episode yet, because we're looking at songs connected through the colour black!
Chris and David are rejoined by award-winning science fiction editor, comedian and podcaster Donna Scott for this outing and their adventures include the likes of Soundgarden, The Black Crowes, Black Country Communion, Doves and many many more!
There's also brief discussion about the use of AI in podcasts, but rest assured, the closest things featured here are just some unflattering impressions.

It's time for our next episode of song reactions and chit-chat to drop and there's gonna be even more nostalgia than normal!
Chris and David are joined once again by friend and bandmate Andrew for a show themed around songs that remind them of particular memories: think of it as like a book of photographs you can actually listen to.
We have memories going back decades (no offence to those involved...) and a similar range of artists: everything from Queen and Muse to The Wildhearts and Tinie Tempah plus many others! We've even gone a bit rogue.......and included TWO SONGS BY THE SAME ARTIST.
Please forgive us if you can.....

Folks, it's that time where we bring you more music reactions! Chris and David are accompanied once again by Chris' brother Nigel and this time, they are exploring the world of acoustic songs!
There was a time when all music was acoustic and while we've unplugged the electrics here, we certainly haven't lost the great songwriting or the spirit of music, with plenty of stellar tracks by Jimmy Eat World, Model Actress, Muse, Dead Dads Project and many many more to grace your ears!
Here's to songs you can play during a power cut!

Welcome to A Crotchety Podcast!
Isn't music a nice thing?
We (Chris Fordham and David Luck) certainly think so: as well as playing in a band together, we wanted to share…
When we say underrated, some of this stuff is so obscure, you can't even listen to it online!!
There'll be regular guests and no limits on decade or genre! We hope you'll join us on this journey of discovery with a splash of sense of humour and general chat thrown in!
