In this episode, I am taking some advice from a friend and being more assertive.
I break down your expectations and the goals that you have with your actions. If your actions don't align with your goals, you need to shift your expectations of the result.
Take a listen and let me know what you think :)
When I was young, the first day of school was so exciting. I especially loved having new shiny pencils, pens and binders to organize myself. I had everything 'ready' to begin a new year. But once the newness of the school year wore off, the reality set in with homework, assignments and tests!
This is exactly what it feels like to start a new journey. We promise ourselves we are going to be perfect. We throw away all the junk, prep some food and buy shiny new workout clothes. BUT when the reality sets in that it takes hard work to make a commitment to change your lifestyle, oftentimes we give up!
I challenge you to see that this is the trend, plan for it and make a commitment to yourself to keep going!!
The shiny reward is in the doing!!
The thoughts we have in our head when we go to do something that is hard and not easy, are probably very similar.
These thoughts usually try and convince us to stay safe and not do the thing that scares us, or do the thing that takes us outside of our comfort zone.
Our thoughts try and negotiate with us, they try and convince us to STOP and turn around and run the other way!
When we aren't primed to see this, we don't recognize how sneaky these thoughts are. If we believe our thoughts, our brain believes it and we are doomed.
The thing is, you can have your thoughts, feel your feelings but then you must shut them down and move forward!!
We've all heard that protein is important. It supports the lean muscle mass you have on your body and supports you building new muscle!
We need to work at getting in more protein, not just for this but for overall health and wellness.
There are common mistakes women make when they trying to get in more protein and I discuss them here. It isn't hard for me to meet my protein goals each day and I tell you just how I do it!
We all have goals.
Some of us are close and some of us have yet to get started.
If you think too far into the future, and you look at perhaps how far you have to go, it can paralyze you. It can stop you form even getting started.
It's not about where I want to be in 3 years, but about today. What are the small habits that I can practice daily that will get me there.
When we fall out of alignment with our nutrition and fitness habits, our first go to is to eliminate, reduce and make smaller.
I'm tired of thinking that way. I want us to shift the focus to what can I add back in, how can I get bigger and more powerful?
We have to stop thinking that less is more, smaller is better and eliminating is the only answer to our problems. If we fall off course, the best thing to do is get right back on track with the habits we know that work. Add them back in. Show up more powerfully.
The way to do this is to be consistent in your habits. Practice them over, and over and over again until they become engrained in who you are. So that when you do fall out of alignment, there is not other way then to just get right back on track.
Your results are already guaranteed if you continue to take actions towards your goals.
It requires grit, perseverance and consistency. It does not require motivation, because motivation is fleeting. You won't always feel like doing it, but if you are consistent, even without motivation it will get done.
You have to continue to show up.
You have to make a decision.
Are you going to continue to chip away at becoming the type of person you want to be?
Or are you going to stay where you are?
Whatever your answer is, that's fine. But if you're not happy with where you are, then change is required.
There are a lot of people who I've spoken with, who are afraid to eat out, because they believe that even one untracked meal is going to cause them to gain weight.
One meal isn't going to make or break you. It's what you consistently do over time that matters most.
However, if you are going to eat out there are tips I share that will help you stay on track and still enjoy yourself.
I have learned to look for the same things I normally eat in the places I go to with friends. I'm looking to get a portion of protein, carbs and fats.
You can do a pretty good job of estimating if you're honest with yourself.
Anytime I eat out, I will take a look at the menu ahead of time, make a decision on what I'm going to have before I get there and stick to that plan. I also always account for more fat being used in my meal, because most often restaurants use more fat than we do at home.
Eating out is a chance for you to connect with people you enjoy. You don't want to cloud that with your anxiety and fears over food.
Each and every time I do a photoshoot I learn new things about myself.
I will never forget the way I felt after seeing my pictures from my very first shoot back in 2021. I can say that I never viewed myself in the way that the photos were captured. For the first time, I saw myself in a whole new way.
Photoshoots help give me insight into who I am on a whole new level. I don't do it because I'm vain, I do it because I want to celebrate where I am and how far I've come.
If you've never considered celebrating yourself in this way, I strongly encourage it! You won't be dissapointed.
What happens to our bodies when we are in perimenopause and how do we help ensure that we can maintain and achieve fat loss as well as a healthy body transformation in spite of these changes?
This is a common question I get from so many women.
And so many women tend to use this stage of their lives as an excuse as to why they are not achieving results.
While it may be harder in this stage of life, majority of the time it isn't the reason you aren't seeing results.
Listen in to see what I have to say about this and let me know what you think.
