  • Make Room for Summer: Calendar First, Budget Second

Summer has a way of filling up fast.
Cookouts. Camps. Vacations. Graduation parties. Last-minute plans. Extra spending. Extra expectations. And before you know it, your calendar — and your budget — feel completely out of control.

In this episode of A Cup of Hope, we’re talking about a simple shift that can bring clarity and peace before summer chaos takes over:

    Calendar first. Budget second.

Because your money doesn’t disappear randomly.
It usually follows the pace and pressure of your schedule.

In this episode, we’ll talk about:

    • Why overwhelm often starts with your calendar, not your bank account
    • How busyness quietly drains your time, energy, and money
    • The connection between planning ahead and emotional spending
    • How to create margin before summer gets too full
    • Simple ways to prepare your schedule and budget together

This isn’t about creating a perfect summer.
It’s about being intentional enough to actually enjoy it.

If life has felt rushed, reactive, or financially stretched lately, this episode will help you slow down, think ahead, and make decisions with more peace and clarity.

Your budget works better when your calendar tells the truth first.

  • One Year Later: Hope, Growth & Beginning Again

One year ago, I hit publish on the very first episode of A Cup of Hope. I thought I was launching a podcast — but looking back, I can see that God was also using this podcast to teach me about hope, growth, rest, limits, wisdom, and beginning again.

In this anniversary episode, I’m reflecting on what this first year has taught me about expectations, margin, wisdom, and learning to live faithfully in the middle of real life.

This year did not look exactly the way I thought it would. I learned new skills, built better systems, and made real progress — but I also learned that growth does not eliminate our humanity. We still need rest. We still need margin. We still need grace. And we still need God’s wisdom when life does not go according to plan.

We’ll talk about why peace does not come from controlling everything perfectly, but from learning to live wisely within reality.

    In this episode, I share:

    • What I thought this first year of podcasting would look like
    • Why growth often reveals the next layer instead of making everything effortless
    • How losing margin taught me the cost of not fully counting the cost
    • Why a system without margin is still fragile
    • What God taught me through Proverbs, Sabbath, and reflection
    • The difference between wisdom and certainty
    • Why being human is not failure
    • A kayaking illustration about control, flexibility, and faithful stewardship
    • Why your life is not wasted, even when it looks different than you expected

    Today’s Cup of Hope

God can be faithfully growing something in you even when your season does not look the way you expected.

Peace grows when we stop trying to control everything and learn to live wisely within reality.

    Scripture Mentioned

    • Isaiah 43:18–19
    • Romans 8:28
    • Romans 8:38–39

    Growing Deeper

Take ten minutes this week and reflect on this question:

Where have I been so focused on what is unfinished that I may be missing what God has already been growing in me?

Then write down three places where you have grown, adapted, endured, learned, or seen God’s faithfulness over the last year.

  • From Mental Clutter to Clear Decisions: How to Stop Overthinking

Have you ever had so much to do that you didn’t even know where to start?

    Not because you don’t care.
    Not because you’re lazy.
But because your mind just feels full.

In this episode of A Cup of Hope, Sherry Lynn talks about mental clutter, overthinking, decision fatigue, and why it can feel so hard to make clear decisions when life feels overwhelming.

Sometimes what we call overwhelm is not just about having too much to do. Sometimes it is about having too much swirling around in our minds — unfinished decisions, open loops, things we are tolerating, and all the mental tabs we keep trying to hold open.

This episode will help you slow down, get the noise out of your head, and take one wise next step.

    Today’s Cup of Hope:
Clarity doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from creating space to think clearly.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why mental clutter creates overwhelm and overthinking
    • How unfinished decisions take up emotional and mental space
    • Why brain dumps can help you see what is actually there
    • How planning can bring peace instead of pressure
    • Why slowing down is not unproductive
    • How 1 Corinthians 14:33 reminds us that God is not a God of confusion, but of peace

    Scripture mentioned:
1 Corinthians 14:33 — “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.”

    One Last Sip:
You do not need to have everything figured out. You just need to clear enough space to see your next step.

    Growing Deeper:
Take 10 minutes this week and do a brain dump. Write down everything that is taking up space in your mind.

    Then ask:

    • What actually matters right now?
    • What can wait?
    • What is mine to do?
    • What decision would bring peace if I made it?

And if you need help getting clear, that is exactly the kind of work Sherry does in a Survival Session.

  • Why You Feel Stuck (And How Small Decisions Build Confidence)

Do you ever feel paralyzed by decision-making?

Like if you just pick the wrong thing, everything will fall apart?

In this episode, we’re talking about the hidden reason you feel stuck — and why it’s not because you’re incapable. It may be because you’ve confused wisdom with certainty.

    We explore:

    • The difference between wisdom and the need for guarantees
    • Why overthinking feels responsible (but actually keeps you stuck)
    • The difference between mitigating risk and trying to eliminate it
    • How small decisions build confidence, discernment, and maturity
    • Why God forms adults — and what that means for your daily choices

    “Why doesn’t this feel clear?”
    “Did I mess this up?”

This conversation will help you exhale.

    Movement builds confidence.
    Confidence leads to maturity.

  • Did I Miss God? Rebuilding Discernment When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned

Have you ever wondered if you’re really hearing God… or just hearing fear?

When life feels heavy, confusing, or overwhelming, it’s easy to question your decisions, your faith, and even yourself. Many Christian women struggle with overthinking, spiritual confusion, and wondering if they’ve “missed God.”

In this episode, we talk about spiritual discernment — what it actually is, what it’s not, and why shame and condemnation distort your ability to hear clearly.

    You’ll learn:

    • The difference between conviction and condemnation
    • How shame affects decision-making
    • Why your internal “filters” matter
    • How to stop overthinking and begin moving forward with clarity

    Discernment isn’t about perfection.
It’s about learning to recognize which voice is speaking — and responding with wisdom instead of fear.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, replaying decisions, or questioning whether you can trust yourself or God, this episode will help you breathe again.

    You are not failing.
    You are not crazy.
    And you are not alone.

  • Why Shame Keeps You Stuck (and How Truth Helps You Heal)

Have you ever thought, “What is wrong with me?” — even when you’re trying your best?

In this episode of A Cup of Hope, we unpack the difference between shame, guilt, conviction, and condemnation — and why confusing them keeps us stuck.

    Shame attacks identity.
    Guilt addresses behavior.
    Conviction invites growth.
    Condemnation paralyzes.

We also talk about something many women struggle to name: sometimes what we call “guilt” isn’t sin — it’s the discomfort that comes from setting boundaries or disappointing someone else.

If you’ve ever felt guilty for choosing health, peace, or clarity… this episode will help you sort through that.

Rooted in Romans 8:1 and grounded in practical, everyday examples, this conversation will help you move from self-judgment to honest acknowledgment — because acknowledgment creates safety, and safety makes growth possible.

    In This Episode:

    • The difference between shame and guilt

    • Why condemnation is not the same as conviction

    • How shame affects your nervous system

    • Why boundaries can feel like guilt (even when they’re wise)

    • A simple question to help you discern what’s really happening

  • Why You Don’t Feel Like Yourself Lately (Stress, Trauma, and the Nervous System)

Have you been feeling foggy, overwhelmed, or just not like yourself lately—even when nothing obvious is “wrong”?

In this episode of A Cup of Hope, we explore why that experience makes sense.

What I’ve learned—both personally and through listening to other women—is that our bodies respond to load, not just crisis. Prolonged stress, grief, uncertainty, financial pressure, and responsibility without margin can all activate the body’s protective response long before we have words for it.

If you’ve been struggling to focus, rest, or feel grounded, this episode will help you understand what may be happening beneath the surface—and how compassion, not self-judgment, creates clarity.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why feeling “off” doesn’t mean something is wrong with you

    • How the body responds to prolonged stress and uncertainty

    • Why safety comes before clarity and decision-making

    • How understanding your body can reduce shame and self-criticism

    One Last Sip:

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” and start asking, “What has my body been carrying?”

If this resonates with you, I’ve created a simple, practical resource called the CALM Guide to help you slow down and stabilize before trying to figure everything out.
