Today the plan is to complete our study of the book of Genesis! We’ve seen in the closing chapters how God can bring about good even when others have meant evil. It’s truly remarkable how Joseph became God’s instrument to bring about so many good things despite the tremendous difficulty and suffering he faced. In fact the suffering and difficulty became the very tools in God’s hands to mold and to make Joseph into a man greatly used.

When someone is about to die, and know it’s coming, typically they want to share what’s on their heart with those they love. And those last words can be deeply meaningful to those left behind. In today’s study we are approaching the end of Jacob’s life and so he will call his sons to pronounce a blessing upon them and prophesy of things to come. We’ll look in particular at what he has to say to Joseph.

We’ll be in Genesis chapter 49 today. Jacob is on his deathbed at this point, and his family gathers around him to hear what he has to say. You’re about to hear some of his final words, that include some blessings. Pastor John Randall says this is a good opportunity to evaluate our own lives! What will we pass on to the next generation? What will be said of us, after we’re long gone?

If I was to ask you to call out by name all of the different religions of the world, I’m sure you’d be hard pressed to think of even a fraction of them. That’s because there are over 4,200! But as we’ll learn today on a Daily Walk Christianity stands apart from all the rest, and actually there will be an end to false religion! That’s predicted in Revelation seventeen, and that’s where we’re headed on a Daily Walk.

That’s why it is so critical to have right beliefs that are in accordance with God’s word and His plan for your life. This is illustrated in the family of Jacob. We’d invite you to turn to Genesis 46 and 47 as Joseph reunites with his brothers and eventually his father! And the Lord would revive Jacob through this experience. Our teacher pastor John Randall offers great hope to families today from Genesis 45. In a day when so many are estranged from one another because of marital failure, mistreatment by one another and a host of other reasons - hope of ever being made whole is bleak. But if God can save and restore the family of Jacob - He can restore any family - even yours! In those times when it’s nearly impossible to keep it together what an encouragement to hear of God’s great power to save and restore. Our teacher John Randall heads back to the book of Genesis today. One of the more apparent lessons to be found in Genesis is how God can bring about change in a life that seems unchangeable. This demonstrates God’s power - His grace- and is greatly encouraging in a day when the love of many grows cold. Today we’ll hear not only of how Judah is changed, but also of Jacob having a change of heart too.

We say it often around here, in Christ you never walk alone! And that’s emphasized yet again today! In recent programs we’ve been looking in some detail at Joseph’s life story. You’ll recall he was thrown in a pit, sold into slavery, and would later be put into prison to no fault of his own. But through it all God was with Him, and now the tables have turned. Joseph is now second in command over all of Egypt, and about to encounter his brothers once again.
