Murmuring and complaining the children of Israel were known for that as they traversed through the dessert. It was also a problem that threatened to split the early church! The Lord takes hypocrisy very seriously. In fact as we’ll see today on a Daily Walk two people died in the early church for being a hypocrite. If we stop and think about it, we may have done the very same thing at one time or another. Pastor John Randall believes this can serve as a needed wakeup call to live right before the Lord. In this section of scripture we’re looking at today, Peter has just given a God-inspired evangelistic sermon to a group of people who have observed a miraculous healing of a lame man. Thousands of people ended up surrendering their lives to God. One might expect that joy would abound, and everyone would be excited by the news. But that wasn’t the case. There was a group of religious leaders who were greatly disturbed by this! Pastor John Randall will draw attention to Peter and John’s reaction in the midst of this opposition.

To set the scene for you, Peter and John have encountered a lame man, and he has been healed. A crowd of people now surrounds them and, needless to say, they are quite amazed by this. They are prepared to give credit and glory to Peter and John for this man being healed. Peter sees this as an opportunity to tell the crowd exactly who’s responsible for this miracle, and to point them to the Lord. It’s another example of the Bible’s timelessness, as this message from Peter is as relevant today as it was back then.
