Night of the Reaper (2025) looked like one of those movies you throw on at 2 a.m. expecting to see rubber masks, questionable acting, and a fog machine that’s doing most of the heavy lifting. But then... plot twist... it turned out to be legitimately incredible. What starts as a campy-looking slasher quickly morphs into a stylish, unnerving, and surprisingly emotional horror film that punches way above its weight. The performances are killer, the atmosphere is thick enough to cut with the Reaper’s blade, and by the end we were sitting there like, “Wait… was that actually brilliant?” It’s the rare indie horror film that sneaks up on you, laughs at your low expectations, and then slices them to ribbons.

Every once in a while, a movie comes along that makes you wonder: “Was this a conspiracy theory written on a Waffle House napkin, or did an AI dream it up after binge-watching The Matrix, a perfume commercial, and three TikTok dance challenges?” That’s Ziam, a dystopian fever dream where the action is loud and everyone looks like they’re about to drop the hottest K-pop single of the year (even though this is from Thailand and not South Korea). It's the cinematic equivalent of drinking six energy drinks, staring directly into a ring light, and then getting hit in the face with a glow stick.

We decided to take another chaotic ride through Dashcam (2021), the cinematic equivalent of being locked in a speeding Uber with a vlogger who won’t shut up while the apocalypse unfolds in the backseat. Did James like it any better this time around, or did he just experience the kind of existential dread normally reserved for tax season and dental surgery? Between demonic possession, pandemic panic, and the most irritating protagonist since Jar Jar Binks, this revisit left us questioning whether Dashcam is secretly a misunderstood work of genius or just a prank gone way too far. Buckle up, because once this movie starts screaming, it never hits the brakes. And of course, Sunni still loves it, which may mean she’s either possessed by the same demon from the film or simply has a higher tolerance for Annie Hardy than the rest of us mere mortals.

Meet Gurdy, the killer clown who doesn’t juggle, doesn’t tell jokes, and definitely doesn’t make balloon animals... unless by “balloon animals” you mean “freshly disemboweled corpses.” This low-budget splatterfest asks the important question: how much fake blood can you dump on screen before OSHA gets involved? The answer is: all of it. 100 Tears gleefully abandons anything resembling restraint in favor of chainsaws, cleavers, and gallons of stage blood sprayed with the enthusiasm of a fire hose. It’s so ludicrously violent that it stops being scary and circles right back around to comedy. If you’ve ever wanted a movie that makes Friday the 13th look like Sesame Street, congratulations, you’ve found your new clown prince of carnage.

Apparently, the U.S. military decided to handle bioweapons the same way most people handle recycling: “Meh, just toss it over there. It'll be fine.” The result? A sleepy Iowa town where neighbors stop waving from their porches and start lighting their families on fire. Timothy Olyphant spends the movie doing his best Clint Eastwood impression, trying to protect the town while looking like not even a drop of infected blood could touch that perfect sheriff’s haircut. The government, meanwhile, decides that the only real cure for a small outbreak is mass murder, flamethrowers, and probably a little light nuking. The Crazies is equal parts paranoia, pandemic panic, and “why are we trusting people in hazmat suits with clipboards again?”

Welcome to Edelvine Academy, where the uniforms were crisp, the cliques were cruel, and the seance went very wrong. When a group of mean girls dabble in contacting the afterlife, they accidentally RSVP something that wasn’t on the guest list. Simon Barrett’s directorial debut is part Mean Girls, part The Craft, and part Scream, but with enough originality (and enough gore) to stand on its own. It’s stylish, spooky, and has just the right balance of teen melodrama and supernatural menace. Honestly, if high school had been like this, we probably would’ve shown up more often.
